The Wake-up Call; The importance of sleep in organizational life

Share Article:

Sleeping well is crucial to working well, but thanks to our increasing move towards a 24-hour society, we’re getting less sleep than ever before

This report looks at the impact of sleep loss on work performance, with a survey of over 1,000 business professionals of all ages and at all career stages. The survey uses The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, the most established measure of sleep, together with three new techniques designed to measure sleep quality. Findings show that young professionals are the most affected by sleep loss with 75% saying a lack of sleep has affected their physical and emotional health, making them frustrated, less focused, and more impatient. The report explains why sleep matters, and why a lack of sleep could be the much simpler answer to many organizational problems often blamed on the working environment.
