Business Strategy

Strategic Decision Making

This practical and highly interactive program will help you understand and use tools and frameworks to evaluate your strategic options, develop your strategies and improve the quality of your decision making.

Overview

The first part of the program we'll show you how to develop strategy from first principles using a combination of approaches including Top Down Thinking approaches used by Strategy Consultancies for specific strategic problems as well as logical, creative and emergency approaches to developing business strategy. We bring these strategic frameworks to life, teaching you how to evaluate the external environment to identify options and select the best one. In this practical and highly interactive program, you'll learn how personal interests can pose challenges in the decision-making process – and not only how to diagnose the influence of bias, but also counterbalance its effects. Real examples and multiple case studies throughout will demonstrate the models and prepare you to apply them in your workplace. With simulations, you'll practice developing innovative new strategies and making decisions as a team under pressure. The program also shares research approaches developed by the Ashridge Strategic Management Centre in the field of strategic decision-making and provides participants with frameworks and techniques to help them to recognize red flag warning signs and sources of bias to adjust their approach to decision making and enable better quality decisions and outcomes to be realized.
