We are delighted to welcome José Manuel Barroso to the Hult EF team.

José Manuel served as 11th president of the European Commission from 2004-2014 and prior to that as Prime Minister of Portugal. During his Presidency of the European Commission, he played an influential role in the passing of the Treaty of Lisbon, responding to the financial crisis and incorporating 13 new countries into the EU. He accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of the European Union in 2012.  José Manuel is currently non-executive Chairman of Goldman Sachs International and Chair of GAVI- The Vaccine Alliance.

His academic positions have included visiting professorships at Georgetown University, Princeton University, the Catholic University of Portugal and at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.

From Autumn 2022,  José Manuel will be bringing his wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors to Hult EF leadership programs. His teaching will focus on helping senior leaders develop the skills they need to make agile decisions when under pressure, and to navigate their organizations through disruptive change.
